Fairy Tales from Slavia Friulana

Pravce from Benečija (Fairy Tales from Slavia Friulana) is a performance that draws on Slovenian folk tradition. We explore it from the far western edge of the Slovenian ethnic territory, in Benečija – Slavia Friulana. In the folk tales of the Slovenians from Benečija, life intertwines in all its forms. People have their relationships with one another, animals mimic them, and it is especially interesting when they appear together. We will meet a snail that is willing to climb the highest poplar to see the world. We will also encounter three brothers who, seeking their fortune, receive a magical table, a chicken, and a stick in a deal with a devil. A hedgehog and a fox quarrel over polenta and a house, and little beans turn into small children.
The performance is based on folk tales recorded by Ada Tomasetig and collected in the eponymous book. The show features a blend of various puppet techniques and live traditional music.
The performance is suitable for children aged 4 and up and lasts 45 minutes.
