PicniConcert

August 5 – 7, 2025, Ljubljana Castle – Moat

PikniKoncert is a family gathering with good music, food, and drinks. It offers a different way to spend leisure time, combining a high-quality cultural experience with relaxed socializing and ecological awareness.

After successful festival summers in Tivoli Park, concerts in recent years have been held on the Castle Plateau, specifically in the moat of Ljubljana Castle’s walls. We invite you to escape the summer heat in the afternoon, head to Ljubljana Castle, lay out a picnic blanket, relax, and enjoy some snacks and drinks while listening to great concerts. We’ll provide the excellent music; you bring blankets and full baskets, invite friends, don’t forget the kids, toys, and dogs, and bring along positive energy.

All events are free!

In case of bad weather, the events will be canceled.

Program 2025

LJUBLJANA CASTLE – MOAT

August 5, 2025 at 18:00 – Noreia

Noreia is a six-member ensemble of experienced musicians who perform traditional Irish, Scottish, and Breton melodies—but not in an entirely traditional way. Recently, the group has been actively blending “Celtic” tradition with their own heritage—Slovenian folk music—and creating original compositions, giving their music a unique and recognizable sound.

Four years after the release of their album Viže and two live project albums (The Kilt of Robert Burns – 2022 and Nova Keltika – 2023), the local ethno band Noreia returns with a fresh musical creation. Setev represents a new creative breeze in the band’s development and widely opens doors to transitions—from sorrow to joy, from madness to inner peace, across epic imaginary landscapes to the magic of the hearth’s flames.

Line-up:

  • Ana Novak – violin, vocals, piano

  • Anej Ivanuša – whistles, wooden flute, bouzouki, vocals

  • Gašper Šinkovec – guitar, mandola, vocals

  • Robert Bone – clarinet, whistles, piano, vocals

  • Jernej Vindšnurer – double bass

  • Primož Podobnik – drums, percussion

August 6, 2025 at 18:00 – Êdna

Êdna is a band from the Prekmurje-Styria region, formed by seasoned musicians who fuse traditional folk songs from Prekmurje and the Porabje region with a contemporary, fresh touch. In 2018, they released their debut album Ajnc, cvaj, draj, followed five years later by their second album Slove rdeče.

Êdna has already performed at the Slovenian pavilion at the World EXPO in Milan, at various festivals in Slovenia, the Grazer Sprachenfest in Austria, and multiple times in Porabje. The band also won the Folk is Cool contest organized by the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia (2016), participated in the documentary Between the Mura and the Rába (2022), and appeared live on the Prvi program of Radio Slovenia in the show Prva vrsta.

August 7, 2025 at 18:00 – Regen

Regen, a young five-piece band from Ljubljana, has been captivating audiences since the release of their debut single Wine with their unique interpretation of alternative pop. Critics describe their music as filled with melancholic echoes and floating harmonies, interwoven with vibrant rhythms and instrumental textures reminiscent of the ’80s. Regen creates boundless music, perfect for both dancing and accompanying dreamy evenings or midnight drives on an empty highway. On stage, they are known for their effortless elegance and confidence, winning over audiences with their powerful youthfulness and direct approach.

In 2022, they released their debut album Youth, which features the hits Wine, California, and Tequila. Last year, their first Slovenian-language single Rada znala bi plesati climbed to the top of the charts and became the most-played song on Val 202. This year, they’re releasing a new single in Slovenian as a prelude to their second studio album.
